PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) works by keeping the memory of a traumatic experience alive
This happens as a self defense mechanism: let’s say you are walking down the street and you are mugged (robbed), it is very distressing and frightening, and you feel great anxiety, and later you find that you have flash backs and dreams of the event or even frightening nightmares anout it. Your body was caught out once, and it is geared up to not being caught out again. Your nerves have become sensitized for action and if you are ever in this situation again you will be ready, your memory won’t let you down.
But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened." 1 Peter 3:14 NIV
When we look at PTSD in this way, we change our view point to not seeing it as the enemy, but as a friend looking out for us. Often people see a therapist who will help them work through their feelings to a place in our mind feel more relaxed and safe, the body perceives the danger as being reduced and the need to remember fades, it may return, but when you have relaxed once you will relax again.
As a Christian Jesus helps us deal with fright by drawing close to him in the knowledge that he offers comfort and hope, often people in their darkest hour turn to God even when they have had no belief in the past
Jesus said: For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins,your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14.15 NIV

Dear Jesus, I thank you and put my trust in you, you are always at my side even when I am remembering frightening events; I know that you will never let me down, forgive me for the times that I have disappointed you, guide me and teach me, fill me with your power, I pray for healing and peace in the love and assurance that you died and rose again for me, amen
