Negative self talk

Anxious self talk is similar to mistaken beliefs; an anxious person can hold an internal conversation with themselves imagining the worst. As the body and mind are in a state of fear, this will usually have some sort of impending doom aspect as their mind races to locate the assumed source of danger that is producing the emotion of fear. This can be very tiring, and often anxious people become mentally drained. This becomes an obstacle in itself, as when this happens it is more difficult to shrug off a worry. Negative self talk can constantly wear a person down, the ‘what if’ and the ‘if only’ and ‘I’m sure that they must be thinking this of me’ ‘how could I have been so stupid; and so on it goes. This pattern of thinking can become ingrained in our thought process; we are often unaware that we are doing it. As a Christian we are still vulnerable to this, but we have hope, and the more we get into our bible and worship God the more our thought process changes for the better, we become more positive thinkers, or should be, it’s not easy. We are given hope and all the amazing words from the bible to reinforce positive thinking. We are promised that we will be with Jesus forever, and that Jesus is with us all the time in the Holy Spirit, that he will guide us and teach us, comfort us and never leave us. How great is the lord, how wide and how deep his love for us is.
may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, Ephesians 3:18 NIV
Jesus helps anxious self talk through his message of hope: God is an optimist, as he cannot fail, ever. And he invites us to join him. As Christians we are involved in relationships that are supportive and positive, as well as honest and realistic. We may well have our low moments: the difference is that we have God with us and we can pray and hand our concerns over to him.
"The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe" (Proverbs 29:25).
The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim
freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour.
Luke 4:18-19

A simple prayer:
Dear Jesus, I thank you and put my trust in you, you are always at my side even when feeling negative; I know that you will never let me down, forgive me for the times that I have disappointed you, guide me and teach me, fill me with your power, I pray for healing and peace in the love and assurance that you died and rose again for me, amen
