Guilt is a feeling of anxiety and often self loathing at what we may have done or said.

Ironically, Christians can feel very guilty, even though God loves us, God has forgiven us, God has removed our guilt from us, and God wants to help us. So what's going on? Why do some Christians feel that that they are getting worse? It's because of the work of the Holy Spirit in us: he seeks to make us more like Jesus, and remove sin from our lives. But very often the sin is lodged deep down inside, in fears and hurts from the past, so he has to bring this to the surface and to our attention so that it can be healed and dealt with. Remember, we have an enemy, the devil, whose job is to accuse Christians, make them feel guilty and rubbish, and so demoralise them. The answer to this is to know how God sees us, and so ignore this false guilt: once we have asked for forgiveness from God, it's over and done with.

Why do you think God wanted us to be new creations when we enter His royal family? Because He doesn't want your past to be a part of you anymore! He wants you to be washed clean from all your sins and wiped clean from your past!

"And from Jesus Christ, who... washed us from our sins in his own blood. (Revelations 1:5)

"As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalms 103:12)

Jesus said:
For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. (Matthew 26:28)

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. (2 Cor 5:17,)

God knew that if He didn't forget our sins, they would forever be before Him, and it would hinder the closeness that He desires to have with us. Therefore, God Himself said that for His own sake, He chose to not only forgive your sins, but also forget them and cast them into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19)

"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)

Not only did God choose to forget your sins, but He also wants you to forget them as well. God's Word tells us to, "...draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:22)
